This is a 7 week study that will encourage you to rekindle your heart by returning your life to God. You may have wondered how imperfect lives with blemishes and scars could reflect back to God a true gratefulness for His Love - Jesus knows you are not perfect, but He also knows that you are made perfect in Him, if only you will come and surrender to Him daily.
Getting Ready for WOMAN 2011
This is not a post of practicalities and logistics. There is no use of technical terminology. It’s not a “how-to” or a “this is what we did”, but rather a “why we do it.” It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. That saying makes me wonder what sort of novel our team wrote during our recent WOMAN photo shoot… During the first week of May, we did a photo shoot for NLC’s upcoming WOMAN conference. (September 16-17…go register!) The shoot took place under the cover of the dark night sky which, thankfully, had finally decided to cease raining on that particular evening. The results from the combination of a determined crew, willing volunteers and heaps of glitter and sequins were scintillating photographs. Photos that captured the theme of the conference which is wrapped up in the language of Psalm 19:1-2, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.” Proclaim. Display. Speak. Make. The photo shoot featured women from different journeys and walks of life. Some are just beginning; some are starting down a new path, and some are further along their journey. Each has their own divine God-story to proclaim. These seemingly simple and routine photographs display the beauty of these women—the beauty of their story amidst the backdrop of God’s glorious sky. This is all preparation for those two days in September where women from across Arkansas will unite together. We prepare these pictures and write this story for the one--the woman who needs to have her spirit lifted, the woman who needs to understand that there is a God in heaven who believes in her, the woman who needs to know she can make a difference, the woman who desires the presence of God, the woman who needs to see the presentation of beauty in the church in order to believe in the God who created it. At WOMAN there will be speakers who will give language to God’s heart for His daughters. By the end of that Saturday evening, these gathered women will be equipped and empowered to go back to their communities and make Him known. After all, who knows the impact of a beautiful photograph or a thousand words? a sneak peekIt's that time again... holidays are over...the new year is in full swing...and the spring women's event is just around the corner! Angie and I and our precious team are scrambling, researching, meeting, and dreaming...finding shirts, talking to choreographers, photographers, and carpenters, and working to bring you [our lovely women of nlc] a night that will inspire and challenge us all to engage in changing our worlds with the love of God in 2010. Above, you will see one of our beautiful photos from our latest shoot. John Newberry, our photographer, was simply amazing to work with. Our women were all smiles as we had them frolic, twirl, and skip in 40 degree weather for a few hours...what troopers! We had a blast as drivers slowed (or sometimes whistled and yelled) as our women pranced with giant rainbow umbrellas through the downtown streets. So much fun! Women, we have so many reasons to gather...Haiti needs our help...we need to hear from God for this next year...we need to laugh, worship and just be together! Christine Caine will be with us again...yay! She, of course, will bring another powerful life-changing word that sounds even more convicting in her oh-so-coveted Austrailaian accent. Tell all your friends...even someone God may lay on your heart who needs a night like this. The date is Feb. 28, 2010. The time is 7pm. The event is "She...awakens her world." Stay tuned for even more details to come...
Cheers to you all, Rebecca Shatswell
